Granada prepares to host the Goyas 2025 with an extensive program of activities

Next February 8, Granada will host the 39th edition of the Goya Awards 2025 of the Film Academy, a milestone that will be preceded by an extensive program of previous activities.

Urban exhibitions; screenings of nominated films accompanied by meetings with their authors and protagonists; educational activities and social; giant goyas through the streets, and a photocall at the Town Hall to be photographed with a Goya Award will make up this previous program that is being worked on, the result of collaboration between the institution and the Granada City Council.

Fernando Méndez-Leite, president of the Film Academy, has presented this program, similar to the one that has accompanied other cities that have hosted the Goya, in an event in the Cuarto Real of Santo Domingo in which they have also been present Marifran Carazo, mayor of Granada; Rafael Portela, vice president of the Film Academy, or Juan Ramón Ferreira, Councilor for Culture of the office. "We are convinced that all the activities we are organizing will further strengthen our ties with the people of Granada and bring our cinema closer to a citizenry eager to enjoy them, and who have received us with all the love and hospitality. All of us who form the family of Spanish cinema feel supported and we are sure that the different programmed actions and the gala on February 8 will be a success," he declared. Mendez-Leite.

The first event that Granada will host will be the concert ““Music and cinema”, in which the City of Granada Orchestra and the OGC Choir will offer a selection of great pieces related to Spanish cinema next Friday, October 25, at the Manuel de Falla Auditorium, at 7:30 p.m. Progressively, different locations in the city will host activities such as the exhibition of films with meetings with filmmakers in the Isabel la Católica Theater; and meeting with recognized faces of the industry with a “relationship with the city”, or the installation of a “good number” of Giant Goyas in emblematic places.

Granada will also host two urban exhibitions with iconic images from the history of the awards. The first, Andalusia in the Goya, will be a journey through the presence of Andalusian talent in the history of these recognitions, with special prominence of filmmakers linked to the city of Granada. The second, The emotion of the Goya, will consist of large-format photographs that capture the moments in which big names in our cinema received their statuette.
