The AEC 2025 MicroSalon opens its doors with the support of 40 companies and an extensive program of activities
La Nave Madrid hosts the VIII on December 12 and 13 MicroSalon AEC, which in its 2025 edition will offer talks, demonstrations and meetings designed for professionals, students and anyone interested in cinematography with the support of more than 40 companies, many of which will show their latest technological developments.
The event, Free and open to professionals, students and the public, has the institutional sponsorship of the Madrid City Council (through the Madrid Film Office) and the support of the ICAA, consolidating itself as one of the most relevant annual events in the sector regarding cinematography.
He Microsalón AEC 2025 starts the Friday December 12 from 10:00 to 19:30 with a day full of meetings. This is its programming:
- 11:45 h. – Official opening – With Nuria Roldós AEC, Raúl Torquemada (Madrid Film Office) and the representatives of the Mexican AMC: Alfredo Altamirano and Ximena Amann AMC.
- 12:00 h. – Meeting between Ibero-American DoPs. With Alfredo Altamirano AMC, Ximena Amann AMC, Juana Jiménez AEC and Iván Román AEC. Moderator: Julio Ruiz (Better Call Us). Organized by EFD Studios with the support of the Casa de México Foundation.
- 13:15 h. – What can I do in case of sexual violence on my set? With Nerea Barjola and Bárbara Tardón, experts in sexual and gender violence. Moderator: Elisabet Prandi AEC.
- 16:00 h. – On Sundays. Meeting with Bet Rourich AEC and Alauda Ruiz de Azúa, director. Moderator: Almudena Sánchez AEC.
- 17:30 h. – 19:00 h. – International masterclass: The relationship between DoP and gaffer. Con Stephen Murphy BSC ISC (The Gentlemen, Atlanta, Years and Years) and gaffer Michael Fennelly. Moderator: Dani Saló AEC. In collaboration with LCA – Lights Camera Action.
Furthermore, in parallel, various spaces in La Nave Madrid will host different conferences: WeLab – Wewision, lighting and narrative science (Manu León AEC); Canon, narrating from the front at the Oscars (Marcel Mettelsiefen AEC); The Core School, photography in the Ibero-American audiovisual field (Teresa Medina AEC, Irene García-Martínez, Concepción Cascajosa); VCI, lighting with Knowled series (Ezequiel Nóbili); ARRI, ARRICORE and FilmLab (Florian Rettich); Sony, UHD experience of the musical Mar and Cel (Marta Bragado, Domènec Gibert AEC), and Robisa, investment, autonomy and LED equipment (Irene Cruz AEC).
The second journey, that of Saturday December 13 (10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.), also has a program, in the words of the MicroSalón itself, “of the highest technical and artistic level”:
- 11:00 – 11:45 – Madrid seeks symphony: MADRID, EXT. With Juan Cavestany and Javier Bermejo AEC. In collaboration with Madrid Film Office.ç
- 12:00 – 13:00 – Recovering memory: from the personal to the collective. With Juana Jiménez AEC (Flowers for Antonio) and Raquel Fernández Núñez AEC (Resistance Box). Moderator: Nuria Roldós AEC.
- 13:15 – 14:30 – AI and Photography Direction. With Alberto Novoa (Freepik) and Pakko de la Torre. Moderator: Ricardo de Gracia AEC.
- 15:30 – 16:45 – Conversation with Colin Watkinson ASC BSC. Emmy winner for The Handmaid’s Tale, will speak with Néstor Calvo AEC about his work in this series and Alien Earth, Emerald City. With the collaboration of ARRI.
- 17:00 – 18:15 – Closing of the Microhall: Cinema-Concert. Projection of A Man with a Movie Camera (Dziga Vertov) with original music performed live by Rita Perry and Robbie Perry (Dead Can Dance musician).
On this occasion, parallel talks include CEPROMA, Sony's new VENICE 2 system (Daniel Listh); Fujifilm, digital production with GFX Eterna 55 (Marc Cattrall, Juan A. Fernández AEC); Innport, lighting and SUMOSKY and SUMOMAX cases (Irene Cruz AEC, Meritxell Mesa, Nathan Pinon); ECAM, workshop “From filming to classrooms” (Almudena Sánchez AEC); Angénieux, Iris Ovalados for Optimo Prime (Benoît Brismontier, Miguel Ángel Mora AEC), and VCI, Kinoflo and Litegear in LED lighting (Christian Anderson AEC).
