ECAM opens the call for its AFTER short film support program
The School of Cinematography and Audiovisual of the Community of Madrid (ECAM) opens the call for the third edition of AFTER, the short film support program aimed at producers, directors and scriptwriters who are alumni of ECAM or the Autonomous Community of Madrid.
After the journey of its two previous editions, AFTER establishes itself as a key driver for the development of new audiovisual talents and for strengthen connection with the film industry, reaffirming its commitment to short films as the axis of the present and future of the sector.
The main objective of AFTER is support six short film projects, whose teams will be made up of a minimum of two people, one of them dedicated to production. Anyone with more than two films (of any length) qualified by the ICAA may not participate as director or producer.
AFTER will last one week and will take place at the ECAM facilities. It will consist of specific sessions on production, scriptwriting, and legal and financial advice, as well as individual mentoring and tutoring focused on the creative part, to strengthen the projects in order to find solid financing avenues.
Each selected project will receive the amount of 4,000 euros in development aidThe selection of the six projects will be made through a call addressed to ECAM alumni and producers from the Community of Madrid. The projects will be chosen by an independent committee made up of sector experts.
AFTER is open to short films of any genre and format (fiction, documentary, animation...), in the development phase and seeking financing. In addition, the selected projects will participate in the third edition of ECAM FORUM, international co-production forum organized by ECAM in June 2026 where there will be specific activities for selected participants. They will also participate in other film festivals and markets, according to the agreements established by ECAM.
To strengthen the projects and encourage closer ties with the film industry, ECAM has formalized agreements with other programs such as Emerging Cinema Lab, Abycine Lanza and with Shortpitch of the Benidorm Skyline Festival, among others, so that the selected projects could continue their development after the end of AFTER.
Some of the mentors of the past editions of AFTER have been filmmakers and producers such as Gabriel Azorín (director of titles such as Last night I conquered Thebes) Sandra Romero (director of Where the silence passes), Chema García Ibarra (director and screenwriter on titles such as holy spirit), Emilia Fort (producer at Avalon) or Sandra Mora (producer at Still life with ghosts), among others.
