Nine university students receive the UniTalent-EITB 2022 awards for the development of audiovisual talent

EITB has awarded the UniTalent-EITB 2022 awards to nine university students who are currently studying at the University of the Basque Country-Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea (UPV/EHU), Mondragon University and the University of Deusto.

Elena Barrutia, Astrid Carranza, Oihane Corpion, Ainara Irurieta, Garazi Karrera, Maider Legazpi, Oier Romatet, Garazi San Martín e Iñaki Serrano They will enjoy this opportunity for audiovisual creation and training through the awards that EITB launches as a commitment to the development of the audiovisual talent of young university students.

In this fourth edition 31 students have participated degree in Communication and Audiovisual Communication from the different Basque universities who have presented a total of 57 projects corresponding to the three categories or genres specified in the bases: entertainment, fiction and factual or documentaries.

The UniTalent-EITB awards jury was made up of highly experienced EITB professionals, such as Itziar Azpeitia, head of Special Projects at EITB and director of the UniTalent-EITB initiative; Gorka Garcia, director of Art and Programs at ETB; Joselu Blanco, Director of Programming at ETB and Jon Lamarck, director of EITB Lab. In the jury's opinion, “the students have once again shown a lot of talent and a high level of creativity through their projects.”

The UniTalent-EITB awards were born in 2018 and respond to the essence of EITB as a public service entity and its commitment to universities, the Basque audiovisual sector and young people, to identify, encourage and contribute to the development of talent in the various areas related to its field of activity.

This initiative is developed during two school years. The first course corresponds to the preparation, presentation and selection of projects and in the following course, the award-winning students have the opportunity to develop their paid internships in professional teams as a result of the award obtained.

The awards thus combine academic preparation at the university level with more specific training, which allows the award-winning students to immerse themselves in the professional sector. The entire process is carried out in collaboration, and under the supervision, of all the parties involved in this project, that is, the universities, the production companies and the Basque public communication group EITB.
