These awards, which are celebrating their 39th edition, are born from the commitment of the Official College of Telecommunications Engineers (COIT) and the Spanish Association of Telecommunications Engineers (AEIT) with excellence in the training of Telecommunications Engineers.

2019 COIT-AEIT Engineer Awards

Last Friday, June 14, the awards ceremony took place at the Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences of Spain. COIT-AEIT Telecommunications Engineers Awards, which this year celebrates 39 editions. These awards are born from the commitment of the Official College of Telecommunications Engineers (COIT) and the Spanish Association of Telecommunications Engineers (AEIT) with excellence in the training of Telecommunications Engineers.

The prizes are differentiated into three categories: Final Year Projects or Master's Final Projects, Doctoral Theses and Best Academic Tracks in Telecommunications Engineering. In this thirty-ninth edition, more than 100 applications from universities throughout Spain have been submitted, which shows the interest of a contest that enjoys enormous prestige both among students and educational centers.

It is precisely the involvement and commitment of universities and educational centers that makes Spain one of the most advanced countries in the world in the training of Telecommunications Engineers. Furthermore, thanks to the support of the main companies in the sector, which sponsor this contest, the COIT and the AEIT can highlight the work of the best students in our country.

2019 COIT-AEIT Engineer Awards

Academic world and business

Martha Balenciaga, Dean-President of the COIT and President of the AEIT, commented that "these awards serve to highlight the talent of our engineers, who are undoubtedly the main asset of our sector in Spain. Acts like this demonstrate that the COIT and the AEIT are a true link between the academic world and business." The Dean-President also highlighted that "these awards also serve as a tribute to schools and university centers, as well as their professionals, who continue to guarantee quality in the training of telecommunications engineers."

Francisco Javier Gabiola, Secretary General of the COIT, provided some of the most relevant data from this edition of the Awards and highlighted the increase in women's participation. In addition, he highlighted the work of the 300 evaluators, who have carried out more than 1,761 evaluations, and also that of the Jury, made up of directors and managers of the Master's Degree in Telecommunications Engineering (enabling master's degree).

On this occasion, a total of 35 participating centers have been presented: University of Granada, University of Málaga, University of Seville, University of Zaragoza, University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, University of Cantabria, University of Castilla La Mancha, University of Valladolid, Autonomous University of Barcelona, Open University of Catalonia, Polytechnic University of Catalunya, Ramón Llull-La Salle University, University of Alicante, Miguel University Hernández, Polytechnic University of Valencia, University of Valencia, University of Extremadura, Public University of Navarra, University of Navarra, University of Vigo, University of the Balearic Islands, University Alfonso Oviedo, Polytechnic University of Cartagena, University of Antwerp and University of Quebec.
