AMETIC entrega al COIT el Premio 'Impulso de las TIC'

The Official College of Telecommunications Engineers (COIT) has received the award that AMETIC awarded annually to the 'ICT Boost'. The award rewards Telecommunications Engineers for having recently celebrated the centenary of their official title and for their role in the digitalization of Spanish society, among other reasons.

The award was collected by Martha Balenciaga, dean-president of the COIT, during the gala dinner on September 1 at the 35th Meeting of the Digital Economy and Telecommunications organized by AMETIC in Santander under the motto Reunion, Recovery and Reinvention. The person in charge of presenting the award was Carmen Artigas, Secretary of State for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence.

With this award, AMETIC also wants to recognize the work that Telecommunications Engineers have had and have in the technological development of companies and administration at the national level, and their relevance in making Spain a leading country in innovation and digitalization, and a global benchmark.

Marta Balenciaga, dean-president of the COIT, assured that "as an institution that represents this profession before society, it is an honor to receive this award from AMETIC, as it represents the recognition of the digital technology industry sector in Spain, which AMETIC represents, Telecommunications Engineers, as indispensable actors to understand the progress of society in the last 100 years."

Balenciaga also added that "the challenges we face as a country are demanding a dizzying evolution in which Telecommunications Engineers once again have a crucial role to successfully undertake the digital transformation and its social and economic impact. Without a doubt, we are going to respond to this challenge with the virtues that we have been showing for decades: adaptation, flexibility and professionalism."

For its part, Pedro Mier, president of AMETIC, expressed his satisfaction for "awarding the 2021 award to the profession of Telecommunications Engineer, which this year celebrates its first centenary. Many Telecommunications Engineers have held and hold positions of responsibility in the sector in all areas and their development would not be understood without their contribution."
