The Jury Prize is traditionally awarded to a company or project that displays unique creative, technical or commercial imagination. The award will be collected by Carlos Fontanot, image director at the International Space Station, and Kelly O. Humphries, the popular voice of NASA's control center.

Since the beginning of the space race, the American space agency NASA has always made sure to share its achievements with millions of people around the world. Since the first recordings on photochemical film, the agency has always been at the forefront of imaging. Today, it even has a 4K UHD channel that allows viewers to see spectacular images on televisions and connected devices.

NASATo acknowledge the contribution that NASA has made to the audiovisual industry, the IBC organization will award the Jury Prize at the IBC Awards that will be presented at the RAI Center in Amsterdam next Sunday, September 11.

The Jury Prize is traditionally awarded to a company or project that displays unique creative, technical or commercial imagination. In previous editions, for example, the 3D stereoscopic coverage of the Soccer World Cup in 2010 or the single frequency networks over DVB-T2 in the 2011 edition were recognized.

The award given to NASA will be collected by Carlos Fontanot, image director at the International Space Station, and Kelly O. Humphries, the voice of control during the last fifty shuttle missions and hundreds of activities on the ISS.

'Home' en 4K (NASA)Michael Crimp, CEO of IBC, stated that "it is impossible to underestimate the importance of NASA's film and video efforts. Its engineers and producers have had to overcome technical difficulties, which has meant close cooperation with equipment and systems suppliers. The result has been stunning images, which have literally changed our view of the world."

In addition to receiving the award, Fontanot and Humphries will participate in a presentation titled Live from space: the image and NASA (Sunday the 11th, 4:00 p.m.).
