The Official College of Telecommunications Engineers (COIT) and the Spanish Association of Telecommunications Engineers (AEIT) have designated Cayetano Carbajo, CTO at Telefónica Germany, 'Engineer of the Year 2015'. The announcement of the recognition took place during the celebration of the festival of San Gabriel, patron saint of telecommunications, held this Tuesday at the Palacio de Cibeles in Madrid.
During the event, Eugenio Fontán Oñate, Dean-President of the COIT and President of the AEIT, highlighted that "Cayetano Carbajo is an exceptional engineer, responsible for many years of the Telefónica Group's network technology and who is currently taking on the challenge of merging the operator's networks in Germany (O2 and E-plus), a country in which the operator is the leader in the mobile market." According to Fontán, "there are many Spanish engineers directing projects of exceptional importance outside our borders. Their work is not always sufficiently valued. With this designation we want to make visible the extraordinary contribution of so many professionals to the prestige of our country abroad."
Cayetano Carbajo is a Telecommunications engineer with a long career in the Telefónica group, which he joined in 1995 as a radio engineer for Telefónica Móviles.
