Nevion makes VideoIPath a “one-size-fits-all” solution by supporting resource federation
The VideoIPath media orchestration platform from Nevion (Sony) now supports federation, a “unique” development in the industry that results in the ability for multiple autonomous VideoIPath instances to collaborate within and across locations.
Nevion considers that this improvement for VideoIPath represents a “great advance” in the distributed production across multiple sites, since, thanks to resource federation, it is possible to share and use different production resources regardless of their location. The Sony company has promoted this development by identifying how broadcasters, media and production companies they increasingly seek to increase the flexibility and profitability of your live productions moving to remote and distributed production. Such productions, Nevion notes, include studios, control rooms, staff, on-premise and cloud processing located at multiple sites. Share, control and connect these resources with ease through networks LAN, WAN, 5G y GCCG (Ground-to-Cloud-Cloud-to-Ground) is “one of the biggest challenges to enabling this type of production,” a challenge that is being solved by the VideoIPath resource federation.
As an example, Nevion points out that, with the federation, individual systems of VideoIPath can now Collaborate with other VideoIPath systems to share, control and connect resources in all locations safely. Since each system is autonomous and takes care of its own resources, continues to function and collaborate, even if problems occur in other parts of the federation. The federation capability also allows VideoIPath to achieve new heights of scalability, to manage all production resources and all media flows involved.
Although remote and distributed production are obvious applications for VideoIPath's federation functionality, the capability can also be used to compartmentalize networks within facilitiesFor example, between intake, production and emission. On the other hand, VideoIPath's federation capabilities will also allow it to offer a WAN orchestration to unite the different installations of its users.
Arne-Johan Martinsen, product manager of VideoIPath in Nevion, considers that the new resource federation capacity will be a “key piece” in the future of content production. Likewise, Martinsen points out that this development will optimize all operations, since “by hiding the complexity of the underlying infrastructure from users and providing scalability, reliability and security, VideoIPath allows content producers to focus on creativity, while increasing efficiency and effectiveness.”
