Young One Studio relies on a Blackmagic workflow to create films, video clips and advertisements

The cameras of Blackmagic and the DaVinci Resolve Studio post-production solution are the two great technological pillars of the Los Angeles production company Young One Studio.

At first, Young and Bantum couldn't consider purchasing a film camera due to the investment required. Initially, Young One Studio opted for a unit Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K, since it offered the possibility of recording in Blackmagic RAW format. Later, they acquired the versions Pocket Cinema Camera 6K y Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro, as well as digital cinematographic models Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro 4.6K G2 y URSA Mini Pro 12K. By having multiple camera systems, Young and Bantum have a great creative freedom when tackling each project: "Currently, we mainly use the Pocket 6K Pro and URSA Mini Pro 12K models. The latter allows for great images and is extremely reliable as a main camera. It complements very well with the Pocket 6K Pro version, which is very useful when we need to place a lightweight unit on a gimbal, film stunts and supplementary shots, or record on the fly outdoors while holding it in our hand."

The final touch, with DaVinci Resolve

Beyond production, the company has been using DaVinci Resolve Studio from the version 15 of the program for its advanced capabilities calibrations. Bantum, in this regard, highlights the software that it offers a “comprehensive solution for post-production.” In their own words: “It was a great way to streamline our processes, and we didn't have to resort to other editing tools hoping they would be compatible.”

"We were never a fan of importing and exporting files. Like everything in our company, we like things clear and concise, and this is exactly what Resolve offers us," adds Young, who also celebrates the versatility and accessibility of the Blackmagic system: "Since we do all the post-production ourselves, from editing and grading to audio mixing and mastering, it's ideal to have all the tools in one place. The interfaces of other similar programs are very confusing. In contrast, DaVinci Resolve is extremely clear and easy to understand, and its stylish design is not only better, but also newer."
