Cardiff University relies on Quicklink Studio to train its students
The school of journalism, media and culture of the Cardiff University has adopted the Studio solution (ST55) from Quicklink, a system that will help students train in the area of digital production.
The solution Quicklink Studio is used to incorporate contributions from remote guests who use a laptop or mobile device for inclusion in newsletters in university studies. The solution is also used daily since The Welsh Parliament (Parliament of Wales), among other places in the city.
The displaced in each location produce their contributions with a iPhone mounted on a tripod Manfrotto and a iRig of I Multimedia to separate the audio between XLR y headphones. The smartphone, benefiting from Quicklink's Mojo system, is positioned as the axis of a two-way call with the server Quicklink ST100 located in the university studies. In parallel, Quicklink Manager is responsible for managing all bi-directional remote contribution, being able to remotely control and configure the collaborator's camera, microphone, speaker settings, resolution, data bandwidth and latency, if necessary.
Andrew Jenkins, Broadcast Technician at Cardiff University, says “Quicklink solutions have enabled our students to gain practical skills in overseas broadcast news gathering as part of their courses”, providing “a new teaching and learning experience for both staff and students.”
