ProSiebenSat1 - Quicklink Studio

Quicklink Studio (ST55) has been the system chosen by ProSiebenSat.1Puls4-ATV, Austria's largest commercial television collaboration network broadcasting 4 channels Puls4, ATV, ATV2 and the news channel Puls24, to introduce guests via video calls in its different formats.

ProSiebenSat.1, which broadcasts news, entertainment programs, movies and series throughout the country, needed a professional solution to enter remote guests in the productions of their channels that would replace their current video calling workflow. After studying the market, Austrian television decided to Quicklink Studio (ST55), a tool that allows you to enter remote guests in your production workflows in real time with professional broadcast outputs as HD-SDI and NDI using the Quicklink ST100, ST2102, ST208 y ST200. ProsiebenSat.1 also benefits from Quicklink Manager, a product through which operators can manage virtual rooms and remote guest settings through a cloud-based web portal that can be accessed from anywhere in the world.

The solution Quicklink Studio (ST55) works with a web browser, without the need for remote guests to install any applications or software. Guests can be invited from the Quicklink Manager through SMS, WhatsApp, email or by generating a simple URL link to be shared through any messaging medium. From Quicklink Manager, an operator can remotely control and configure all aspects of the remote guests' device, including camera, microphone, and speaker settings. Marko Trlin, ATV broadcast systems engineer, celebrates the simplicity of the solution: “Going from client-based to web-based video calling integration has been easy and very reliable.”

Through the function of assisted invitation, remote guests follow step-by-step instructions that ensure remote guests are preselected, are fully prepared, configured and tested to go into a live environment. As part of the steps, remote guests are guided through enabling access to your camera/microphone, configuring your camera, microphone and speaker, and troubleshooting. The guest also performs a quick test call to check the status of your network and that it has the recommended upload speed: “It's very convenient to take control of the interviewee's audio and video settings, so we can focus on the content and not how to operate the remote hardware,” adds Marko.

Additionally, the tool Carbon Calculator incorporated into Quicklink Studio automatically calculates the amount of CO2 emissions that are avoided by contributing to Quicklink solutions and is displayed intuitively for both the remote contributor and operators. Through intuitive reporting, ProsiebenSat.1 and other Quicklink Studio users can track their carbon savings in a simple interface, compare benchmarks, and identify important levers for emissions reductions over time.
