Benito Zambrano shoots the social thriller 'El Salto'

Benito Zambrano, winner of two Goya awards, gets behind the camera again with The jump, a new story that denounces the situation experienced by sub-Saharan migrants, not only in their journey to cross the doors to Europe, but also in their fight to achieve a decent life once they have managed to enter.

Moussa Sylla, Edith Martínez, Nansi Nsue, Mariola Fuentes, Paz Sayago, Vicenta Ndongo, Vicky Peña, Norberto Trujillo and Eric Nantchouang, are some of the protagonists of the film that will be shot between the city of Madrid, its surroundings and Tenerife. The script is composed by Flora González together with Benito Zambrano.

In the words of the director of Alone, The Sleeping Voice, Outdoors, Lemon Bread with Poppy Seeds..., “The jumpUnfortunately, it comes at a time when current international events confirm once again that we live in a world where everything interacts with each other. The poverty caused by forced migrations and the consequences of wars is becoming increasingly globalized. The Jump It shows us the tragedy of those who flee, becoming refugees in need of help and asylum.”

Produced by Jesus Eyed Christmas to Cine365 Films and Virtual Contents, for Carlos Fernandez y Laura Fernández Brites for Castelao Pictures (Filmax) in co-production with Jérôme Vidal who produces for Noodles Productions (France). The film has the collaboration of: ICAA – Ministry of Culture and Sports, Orange, Movistar+, RTVE and Canal Sur.

The film focuses on Ibrahim, who arrived in Spain a few years ago from Guinea Conacry but now his roots are in Madrid, where he lives with Mariama and works as a bricklayer. One day the police arrest him and Ibrahim, who lacks a residence permit, is deported to his native country. From that moment on, his only objective will be to return to Spain to reunite with Mariama and an unborn daughter.
After managing to cross Africa, he settles with some traveling companions in Mount Gurugú, a migrant camp that separates Africa from Europe. In Nador he meets Aminata, a girl determined to jump the fence and reach Spain. Jumping over the fence is a physical feat that is not within everyone's reach. Many never achieve it. Others die trying. Only one woman has achieved this to date.
