Under Ulloa the psychological thriller 'El mal' is filmed

In different natural locations in Álava and Vizcaya, Juanma Bajo Ulloa has kicked off the filming of the psychological thriller 'El mal', which is produced by the director himself with the participation of RTVE y EiTB.

Evil focuses on human beings' need for recognition, and their inability to accept their dark side. The protagonist of the story falls on Sandra, a young woman of 18 years of age.

In the usual intention of the director to have new talents, the production has carried out, for one of the main roles, an exhaustive casting process that has lasted for four months, and in which almost a thousand candidates have participated.

The final choice has fallen on the young María Schwinning, whom Bajo Ulloa describes as “a true discovery” and “a diamond in the rough, with a captivating talent and an extraordinary ability to transmit legitimate emotion.” This 16-year-old girl has been training in theater and classical dance since she was five years old and this year she made her first foray into cinema with Isabel Ferrando in Normal people.

In Bajo Ulloa's extensive filmography, films such as butterfly wings or the successful Airbag, turned into a cult film. The director's most recent success is Baby, which in 2020 earned him a new Goya nomination
