‘Artificial Justice’ is filmed, a political thriller directed by Simón Casal

Medium Litmus, Abano Productions y Ukbar Films they lead the production of the political thriller Artificial Justice, a film with Simón Casal as director.

Veronica Echegui (Where two fit, Explode, explode, The fog and the maiden), gives life to the judge Carmen Costa, that personalizes the conflict posed by the plot: can artificial intelligence replace human intelligence when administering justice? Alberto Ammann (Narcos, Cell 211), Tamar Novas (The game of keys, An autumn without Berlin) y Alba Galocha (The Zone, The Man of a Thousand Faces) complete the distribution of this political thriller with references to film noir which is being filmed in natural settings in Galicia.

Simon Casal, director of the film whose script he co-writes with Victor Sierra, had already addressed the issue of artificial intelligence in justice in the documentary Artificial Justice, from 2022, co-written with the philosopher Miguel Penas, and which serves as the research basis for this film. Also as director he signs the titles Eduardo Barreiros, the Gallego Henry Ford, Dirty Wolves, Or Swabian Kingdom, Who Are We, y The Gourougou Trial. Couple considers that the main challenge posed in this film is "to show, through the story and the cinematographic form, the importance of the human condition and emotions when it comes to doing justice. And to confront this human way of doing justice with the scientific and probabilistic method on which Artificial Intelligence is based. I do not have very clear answers to this dilemma, I do not know them. What I intend in this film is to generate that clash, on a thematic level and on a formal level, with the hope that beautiful and valuable things emerge."

Artificial Justice (working title) It is a co-production of Artificial Justice A.I.E, Medium Litmus, Abano Productions (Spain) in co-production with Ukbar Films (Portugal), with the participation of RTVE y Prime Video, and the support of ICAA y AGADIC. A Contracorriente Films will distribute the film in Spain. The film will be released in Prime Video after its run in theaters and will also be broadcast in RTVE.
