The Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA) has decided to honor the memory of the recently deceased filmmaker, Carlos Saura, by giving his name to the Conservation and Restoration Center of the Spanish Film Library (CCR), which will be renamed the Carlos Saura Center for Conservation and Restoration of Film Collections.

The Center will thus permanently honor the memory and work of Carlos Saura, one of the most international Spanish filmmakers and artists, and whose work over more than fifty years is not only a witness to the passage of time, the evolution of the country and its social and cultural heritage, but also addresses the challenges of collective memory in his works.

Saura's extensive and diverse work is as a whole a cinematographic and humanist representation. of a wide spectrum of Spanish cultural and artistic heritage, and represents a crucial contribution to the development of a memory for future generations. His figure is therefore inescapably linked to the conservation of our cultural heritage, the elemental function of the Conservation and Restoration Center of the Spanish Film Archive.

The CCR, inaugurated in 2014, is located in the City of the Image of Pozuelo de Alarcón (Madrid). It is about modern facilities made up of the collections departments, dedicated to the recovery of the documentary collections of our film heritage, their storage, loans and lines of research; documentation, file manager, inventory and cataloging; and conservation, aimed at comprehensive treatment from conservation itself, to digital preservation, through treatment and restoration.
