The Doré Cinema and the Conservation and Restoration Center celebrate World Audiovisual Heritage Day

The CCR organizes two guided tours to check the progress of the restoration work on 'Don Quixote' by Orson Welles and a film by Antonio del Amo. For its part, the Cine Doré will hold an open day.

The Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports, through the Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA), will celebrate World Audiovisual Heritage Day tomorrow, October 27, with a program of activities at the Doré Cinema and the Center for the Conservation and Restoration of Cinematography (CCR).

The activities will begin today with the inauguration of the second season of The Pearls of the Film Library, the cycle carried out in collaboration with the program The Seventh Vice on Radio 3, in which great gems of Spanish cinematography are projected to be discussed later in an open and interesting debate with specialists for the cinema-related public. The screening this Thursday the 26th is Viridiana, masterpiece of Luis Buñuel.

During the morning of the 27th, the CCR will carry out two guided tours of its facilities. These visits (at 10 a.m. and 12 p.m.), with free access until capacity is reached (30 people), will include a presentation of the work carried out by the FormArte program scholarship recipients, consisting of the review and analysis of the materials of Don Quixote by Orson Welles and the digital restoration of the 90-minute film by Antonio del Amo, from a 35mm copy. in very bad condition and another in 16mm.

Then, at noon, the Doré cinema will open its doors so that all those who wish can attend the continuous screening of a series of archival materials and digitized nitrates. The Ministry, through the Spanish Film Library, encourages film lovers to come to the Doré to discover these materials, among which are pieces from the Sagarmínaga Collection and Segundo de Chomón, and join the celebration of World Audiovisual Heritage Day, the perfect occasion to remember the importance of preserving and recovering said heritage.
