Andalusia will host the 2023 Latin Grammys gala, the first to take place outside the US.
The Junta de Andalucía has reached an agreement with the Latin Recording Academy to host the Latin Grammys 2023 next November.
In addition, the region will host Latin Grammys Week on the same date, which includes a program of performances and activities linked to the gala, as well as two major concerts each year between 2023 and 2025.
This has been announced by the president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, after the meeting he held at the San Telmo Palace with the CEO of the Latin Recording Academy, Manuel Abud, and the vice president of the Academy's Board of Directors, Eva Cebrian; organizers of the contest. Both parties have described the agreement as “historic” and “unprecedented.”
"The Academy estimates that Latin Grammy Week will attract about 12,000 people to our community thanks to the maximum expectation and media impact it generates throughout the musical field. And if we talk about its media diffusion, we must take into account that the Latin Grammy Awards is the most watched event in the United States among the Latin public, even above the Oscars," Moreno recalled.
The agreement reached between the Board and the Latin Grammys organization is for three years, and contemplates that The Latin Recording Academy will be the one that will choose the venue of the event based on technical criteria that cover its needs.
In this regard, the president has specified that "the Board's commitment is to Seville, which meets the requirements of an auditorium, hotel plant and ideal connections to host the gala." For this reason, he has assured that he has already summoned the city council of the Andalusian capital “to provide all the facilities in the world” to make the city the headquarters of this event.
"But we're not just talking about the Latin Grammys. It's about much more. We're talking about two major concerts organized by the Academy starting in September of this year, and another two in both 2024 and 2025. And we're also talking about that week of top-level activities, with at least eight other major musical events in Andalusia, but also with an agenda of complementary activities," the president advanced. The program will include, for example, actions aimed at schoolchildren, or initiatives such as training scholarships for artists.
Furthermore, Moreno has highlighted the enormous international impact that the Latin Grammys ceremony has. On social networks, its broadcast leaves more than 10.5 million interactions, with reach in news programs and programs around the world.
