Andalusia United Kingdom Ireland - Co-productions - Extenda Meeting

Andalusia TRADE, through extend, has organized a commercial meeting for Andalusian firms in the audiovisual sector in collaboration with ANCINE, Andalucía Film Commission y Movie London within the framework of Malaga Festival in order to promote co-productions with both markets.

extend, a public company integrated into Andalusia TRADE, is responsible for promoting the internationalization of Andalusian cultural industries, which in 2022 reached record exports of 24.9 million euros, thanks to an increase of 23% compared to 2021. Hence, the organization points out, the importance of valuing the quality of Andalusian audiovisual to agents in the British and Irish markets, “destinations of maximum interest due to the strength of their production worldwide.”

At its opening, the meeting included interventions by Adrian Wotton, CEO de Film London y British Film Commission; Piluca Querol, director of the Andalusia Film Commission; Jose Alba, president of Ancine; Victoria Fernández Andrino, from Media Andalucía, and Leo Sardinia, from the Cinema Department of Canal Sur. He was attended by a dozen signatures who have had the opportunity to carry out almost a hundred interviews (90) and numerous networking activities with the international delegation, such as visits to different possible filming locations, such as the Botanical Garden or the center of the city of Malaga. These companies come from Seville (16 Escalones Producciones, La Favorita Produce, La Zanfoña Producciones, Marichu Sanz Casting, SPAL Films, Triana Media Films), Cádiz (Innova Films), Málaga (Pecado Films), Almería (Kinétika-Productora Audiovisual Almeriense) and Granada (Álamo Producciones Audiovisuales).

The public company has also organized a work session to outline the opportunities for Andalusian companies in the audiovisual sector in the British and Irish markets, as well as the possibilities for firms from the United Kingdom and Ireland to bring their projects to Andalusia or hire the services of community firms. Among the production companies that have participated are the Welsh 5 Acts Productions; Archery Pictures; o Artemisia Films Ltd, a company of interest with the intention of filming several projects in Spain; Bright Pictures, a film production company with extensive experience, looking for co-producers in Andalusia and locations to film; Buccaneer Media, which is preparing several projects in Spain after the summer; Dark Pictures Limited, a multimedia studio that seeks documentation and narrative services in Spain for its projects; Imaginarium Productions; Little Monk Pictures; South Yorkshire Filmmakers Network, and Up Helly Aa, which makes productions for online platforms and cinemas.
