PeakFrames produces content in the Swiss Alps with Sachtler's aktiv8

The aktiv8 fluid head system from Sachtler has allowed the production company specialized in extreme sports and outdoors PeakFrames capturing the action of mountain runners in remote locations in the Swiss Alps.

The French sports equipment brand Salomon commissioned Moritz Sieber y Elias Rüetschi, responsible for PeakFrames, a video series in which their products will be appreciated in the Swiss Alps. To capture this video with all the guarantees for posterity, the PeakFrames team opted for the fluid head active8 in combination with the system flowtech75 and a slider Syrup. Other key equipment for the production company is the camera Canon C200, additional equipment Wooden Camera, batteries Anton Bauer Tito and a monitor SmallHD. "When working in the mountains, we need to strike a balance between really smooth, stable camera movement and a light setup. That's often tricky, but with aktiv head and flowtech we have a balance that works perfectly," says Sieber about this project.

Producing PeakFrames for Salomon was not easy. The production company's team left for the locations at 5 a.m. in order to get “the perfect light” for the type of shots they wanted to capture. Once the locations were found, Sieber and Rüetschi were able to take advantage of some of the advantages of Sachtler's aktiv8 system, such as SpeedSwap, a solution that made “switching between tripod and slider really fast,” or SpeedLevel, a unique way to level the camera quickly.

Another notable advantage for PeakFrames of the Sachtler system (distributed by Moncada and Lorenzo) is the ability to being able to lower the tripod to the ground: "We had to do several low angle shots. Normally we would have to do it handheld, but that's not as stable as on a tripod. With aktiv we could go to the ground without restrictions or limitations. Because it's so quick and easy, we used it a lot to create interesting low and wide angles."
