AI, motion graphics and 30 cameras will shape RTVE's San Fermín coverage

More than 100 professionals will be in charge of shaping the most technological coverage of the San Fermín festivities, in which RTVE bet on AI elements, motion graphics and more than 30 cameras.

A comprehensive device technical and human will work live from Pamplona to broadcast every morning the running of the bulls from July 7 to 14 and the Chupinazo announcing the festivities on the 6th. 100 professionals and, specifically, 32 cameras distributed throughout the entire route (including a “zip line” that will run along the slopes of Santo Domingo and Estafeta Street, as well as a drone) will star in extensive coverage that will begin each day at 7:15.

Aside from this more traditional aspect, and to commemorate the 100 years of the first visit of Ernest Hemingway to the Pamplona festivities, the RTVE technology team will have the famous writer and chronicler as “time correspondent"As explained Jorge Vazquez, director of the program together with José María Sánchez-Chiquito, the IA will make this initiative possible: ““We are going to have a correspondent from the past, none other than Ernest Hemingway, who will be with us through AI, and will make a comparison every day of what the Sanfermines were like 100 years ago and now. (…) Everything is done with AI, the texts, the voice taken from one of his voices, the image… we try to take another step in innovation.”

RTVE has also confirmed that the program produced from Pamplona will personalize the runners' races thanks to technology 3D and the motion graphics. Through this initiative, public television will recover every day the best moments of the previous day's running of the bulls and will reveal how a given runner behaves, knowing the distance traveled, the speed reached and the heart rate recorded.

In parallel to this linear coverage, the digital aspect of RTVE will offer through rtve.es a multi-camera option with which the viewer/user can freely choose between nine signals simultaneously. In addition, the chronicle of each bullfight, the full video, the slow motion video commented by the experts, and a gallery of the best images of the bullfight can be consulted here.
