RTVE Institute - Master of Journalism - Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence and its application in Journalism will be the focus of the new Master of RTVE Institute, an initiative built with the collaboration of the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) and the Polytechnic University of Catalonia Foundation through the Haz platform.

RTVE Institute has decided to shape this training program with the aim of covering a gap in the Spanish university training and prepare students to face the new challenges of Journalism in the digital age and the era of Artificial intelligence. The program, which lasts one year, presents a curriculum designed to adapt to the changing technological trend in the media, incorporating the new artificial intelligence tools, which renew work processes in the journalistic profession.

The teaching team is made up of telecommunications sector experts and highly trained professionals from the University of Santiago de Compostela, the Fundació Universitat Politécnica de Catalunya and RTVE Institute. Through this collaboration between academic institutions and “sector leaders”, RTVE seeks to guarantee “updated and specialized” training, preparing students for highly competitive professional profiles in the field of journalism and audiovisual communication.

The Master will combine workshops and face-to-face visits with the online format, through the platform Haz, and will incorporate new approaches to attract audiences, familiarizing students with the new AI techniques applied to the production of news and the information processing required by new forms of communication.

The Master of Lifelong Training in Journalism and Artificial Intelligence will begin next October 16 and the pre-registration period is now open (until August 31). The program, which is taught online, is open to a maximum of 40 students and will be directed by José Miguel Túñez López, from the University of Santiago de Compostela, and Pere Vila Fumas, from RTVE Instituto. This is the fourth master's degree promoted by RTVE Instituto through the Haz project, which adds to those already organized with the universities of Zaragoza, Alcalá de Henares and Seville.
