NRK chooses Appear to optimize and modernize its mezzanine encoding for DVB and OTT distribution

Norwegian public television NRK has opted for Appear to expand and modernize its media distribution platform to take advantage of future advances in video encoding and transport technologies.

Appear is providing an end-to-end service to NRK, building and running a robust compression platform capable of delivering streams of high quality encoding for transcoding by various content distributors throughout Norway, as well as for NRK's ​​OTT and DVB systems.

As part of the managed service, Appear is expanding the deployment of its X and XC platforms while assuming the operation and management of the solution. Its X platform provides NRK with the expansion of mezzanine encoding in DVB and OTT and managing the live contribution of NRK's ​​premium live TV channels.

Appear's XC Platform brings NRK's ​​programmatic and event-based radio channels to NRK customers nationwide. Both platforms are based on Modular and customizable chassis, which allow modules to be interconnected to create a flexible system with the highest degree of performance and capacity. The modular nature of the chassis means Appear can efficiently deliver new functionality to NRK and scale to meet future growth.
