Eighty key figures of the animation value chain have shared work tables within the framework of the second edition of Encourage BCN with the objective of drawing conclusions that allow the continuity of the animation industry in European territory.

For more than three days, representatives of organizations such as Animation in Europe or CEE Animation, among many others, participated in Various debates which gave rise to recommendations such as the need for stronger financing strategies throughout Europe, the Development of compatible standards For co -productions, a greater emphasis on the creation of audiences, the Talent retention and of the Original intellectual property by independent producers.

These teachings were extracted from a total of five working groups, each dedicated to a wide theme: the investment in animation content by channels and platforms; Direct and fiscal public financing of European animation; a legal framework for animation co -productions; Market financing, investment in capital, public-private co-financing and treasury services, and distribution of European animation works in Europe and in the world. For Philippe Alessandri, President of Animation in Europe, the forum has become "fundamental", since "plays a crucial role when addressing the complex challenges that our industry faces." On the other hand, Marta Alonso, Vice President of Proanimats, considers that "when there is bridges between diverse perspectives, animar_bcn has become a vital platform to configure a cohesive and dynamic future for animation throughout Europe."

This is the List of conclusions extracted in Encourage BCN:

  • Introduce the obligation to take into account the diversity of genres and age groups in European obligations regarding quotas and investments.
  • Review the Audiovisual Communication Services Directive and its guidelines to better achieve the initial objective of involving platforms on demand in the financing of European works.
  • Work urgently in a legal framework that recognizes the specificities of the animation to foster and expedite co -productions of European series.
  • Establish effective financial support for dubbing to enhance the distribution of European animation series and films throughout Europe and internationally.
  • Create a platform or event for producing companies that wish to grow and for capital investors interested in audiovisual content.
  • Define children's and youth contents such as "difficult productions", to allow greater public financing of productions, as well as a better development of development.
  • Facilitate more affordable access to international co -productions to countries of low production capacity, reviewing the guidelines of creative Europe and improving the lines of aid for the promotion of minority co -productions.

In June 2024, Animation in Europe will report during Mifa Annecy on the first steps taken from these recommendations.
