Claudio BiernWith own production of RTVE 'Claudio Biern Boyd, animated stories from yesterday and today', a work by Núria Barreiro Gómez and Anna Solana Tomás, 'Imprescindibles' traces and celebrates the career of the founder of BRB and creator of characters such as David the Gnome, D'Artacán or Willy Fog.

An extensive interview conducted by the SGAE Foundation with the producer in 2017, RTVE archive material and the opinions of those around him and professionals from the Spanish and international animation sector, articulate the story of a creative history of more than 50 years, which has not finished, despite his death just over a year ago.

His creations are engraved in the memory of several generations all over the world. Since the 80s, this creator's animated stories have resonated with children, some of them now parents, who discovered literary classics such as Alexander Dumas or Jules Verne with them. And they learned unforgettable songs. In the documentary, the Italian composers of D'Artacán's BSO, Maurizio and Guido de Angelis, hum it to remember their great friend.

Claudio Biern Boyd was born in 1940 in Mallorca and died a little over a year ago in Barcelona. With his production company BRB he made his vocation come true: telling animated stories for children. Before his own productions, Claudio Biern Boyd had brought to Spain, and in some cases to Europe, series as remembered as Marco, Maya the Bee, Vicky the Viking, Pipi Longstocking and a long etcetera, a representation that over the years would also reach Orzo Way, Sandokan o The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.

yours is a pioneer and entrepreneur career which began in a Spain with practically no audiovisual industry, and even less animation, 50 years ago. His determination, which some describe as heroic, led to intense activity in Japan, the cradle of anime, to produce some of its most successful series in Spain and internationally. D'Artacán and Willy Fog or David the Gnome, among other hits from the 80s and 90s, have earned him the title of the Spanish Walt Disney.

Claudio Biern Boyd's animated stories led TVE's after-dinner sessions, with audiences of 20 million people, at a time when making children's series in Spain was heroic. And when only the two public television networks existed. The documentary offers an exercise in nostalgia for the whole family to enjoy.
