Option Media relies on DaVinci Resolve Studio's Fairlight tools

Fairlight by DaVinci Resolve Studio (Blackmagic Design) is now part of the Belgian post-production studio's workflow Option Media.

After studying the market, Option Media, company with multiple mixing rooms in 5.1 format y Dolby Atmos has decided to rely on this set of solutions for both audio post-production and image finalization. In the words of Bart Vanvoorden, sonidis senior en Option Media: "Fairlight is undoubtedly one of the best audio post-production tools today. Its ability and ease to import or use files from other timelines or projects is unmatched. No other audio post-production program offers such flexibility."

Frank van Caesbroeck, production director at Option Media, explains how his transition to Fairlight: “We have always found Fairlight's approach to be more logical than the competition.” Other key factors that led you to decide on this system are its integration with DaVinci Resolve Studio o la versatilidad que brinda al emplear diferentes formatos de archivo: “El poder buscar y escuchar diferentes tomas es una ventaja significativa, al igual que el disponer de un proceso de renderización de archivos más simple para su evaluación gracias a haber adoptado una dinámica de imagen y sonido integrada”.

El traspaso a una dinámica de trabajo basada en herramientas Fairlight de DaVinci Resolve fue sencillo. Todos los sistemas nuevos funcionan en equipos informáticos con Windows 11 que disponen de tarjetas de captura y reproducción DeckLink 4K Extreme 12G, as well as tarjetas PCIe Fairlight Audio Accelerator e interfaces Fairlight Audio.

Blackmagic Cloud en Option Media

Beyond moving to Fairlight solutions, Option Media has begun to take advantage of capabilities cloud to add flexibility to your post-production processes by using Blackmagic Cloud. This is how van Caesbroeck explains: "Initially, we used classic data transfer tools, such as WeTransfer, to send our projects. However, we now store all project files that we have to share remotely directly on the device Blackmagic Cloud Store 20TB, and this syncs with Dropbox in the background.”

Thanks to this workflow, any new audio clip that is record or render syncs automatically at all Option Media offices. “Having incorporated Blackmagic Cloud and network storage has given us the possibility of editing, pre-mixing and finishing audio processing in Option Media, without the need to send projects or files,” explains the post-production director.

Some of the latest Option Media projects carried out with a work dynamic based on DaVinci Resolve Studio y Fairlight include the nature documentary series Our Nature, the animated series Interstellar Ella and television programs such as Money wolves y F>* You Very, Very Much (seasons one and two).
