Pixotope brings the power of Unreal Engine to automated graphics
The software platform for virtual production Pixotope is bringing cinematic-quality graphics and immersive content experiences powered by Unreal Engine to news, sports programs, and other fast-paced, yet dynamic, planned workflows.
Pixotope takes advantage Hedgehogs Studio to offer customers a familiar template-based, ladder-driven solution that seamlessly integrates with editorial systems and automation-driven workflows. Customers can create and mix character generator (CG), extended reality (XR), augmented reality (AR), and virtual studio (VS) graphic elements, enhancing visual storytelling and branding.
Marcus Brodersen, CEO of Pixotope, comments: "Whether it's a feature film or the evening news, viewers crave larger-than-life, immersive, cinematic visuals. Leveraging Hedgehog's exceptional graphics control technology, we're making it easy to integrate Unreal Engine's world-class graphics and Pixotope's industry-leading virtual production capabilities into the broadcast graphics pipeline. It's a seamless experience powerful enough to revolutionize the way television networks can promote their brand, convey their stories with more visual emotion and expand their viewers across all platforms.”
Pixotope covers the entire virtual production workflow, from camera and talent tracking to augmented reality (AR) and virtual studio graphics and extended reality (XR). The platform is compatible with the latest version of Unreal Engine, including 5.4; Users will be able to make use of Unreal Motion Design as part of their graphics packages immediately after its release.
“Unreal Motion Design reimagines what is possible in television and news graphics workflows, and opens the doors to completely new experiences for viewers,” adds Marcus.
Pixotope takes advantage of the Hedgehogs Studio multi-channel graphics controller, compatible with MOS, to consolidate the management and operation of several graphic channels. A single operator can control virtual studio, AR and XR graphics side by side with CG overlay graphics.
This eliminates the slow vendor-neutral platform synchronization and allows reducing operator training time. The seamless integration also provides a template-based and blueprint-based work environment that builds on traditional broadcast workflows, making it easy for customers to jump in and immediately start putting together stunning visuals.
Ronny van den Bergh, CEO of Erizos, comments that "Erizos and Pixotope have been tested to meet the rigorous demands of live production environments. This proven reliability, coupled with our deep knowledge, passion and commitment to simplify, streamline and improve the overall quality of graphics, makes our partnership incredibly beneficial for broadcasters around the world. Our respective areas of expertise will help increase the quality and efficiency of every client's workflow."
