Mediaset Spain

The Board of Directors of the Union of Open Commercial Televisions (UTECA) today unanimously approved the reinstatement of the employers' association Mediaset Spain as a full member.

In March 2019, Mediaset chose to leave UTECA, which it co-founded with Atresmedia in 1998 (at that time, Gestevisión Telecinco and Antena 3 Tv) due to strong disagreements with Blas Herrero over the employer's roadmap.

The Board of Directors has valued that "with its entry we gain muscle and representation at a key moment for the sector, in which we claim the commitment to citizens and the social and economic relevance of free-to-air television, the driving force of the audiovisual industry. In addition, we will continue to demand the need for homogeneous regulation with the large video sharing platforms and social networks."

As of today, the list of partners, who will manage a total of 21 free and open DTT channels, will be as follows: Atresmedia, Dkiss, Mediaset, Net TV, Real Madrid TV, TEN, Trece and Veo TV.
