Dante (Audinate) will be a native technology of Home Apps, Lawo IP ecosystem
Audinate y Theirs have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will result in the integration of Dante audio and video technologies in Home applications.
Thanks to this agreement, Theirs will integrate the Dante SDKs and APIs to guarantee access to control, management and multimedia signals for networks Dante directly from Home. Likewise, the company will introduce new services Dante Import y Dante Export in Home, an approach to integration similar to the one the company has already deployed with NMOS-compatible devices. Audinate and Lawo hope to reveal the first results of their collaboration at beginning of 2025.
The MOU highlights the importance of the Dante network protocol in the studio, installation and live sound sectors, and will enable the powerful coexistence of Dante and Ravenna protocols at an application level based on microservices. Already available for audio hardware, using Dante cards installed in a Lawo Power Core modular I/O and DSP gateway, the planned integration will now be extended to Home applications and will also include video signals Dante AV.
For Lawo, the clearest benefit of this collaboration will be the ability to mix a diverse set of audio sources (Dante, SMPTE ST2110, NDI, SRT and Ravenna) with the app HOME mc² DSP de Lawo Controlled from an MC² or Crystal Broadcast audio console, or a headless mixer setup. However, Home Apps' Dante integration is expected to provide interoperability and agility for a diverse range of Dante-enabled sources and destinations, such as power amplifiers o immersive audio speaker arrays.
Jamie Dunn, deputy general director of Theirs, explains about this alliance: "The integration of Dante into Home Apps is an important milestone for Lawo's open and unified Home platform. Providing Dante integration at a server-based microservice level is set to produce a vast range of creative benefits for operators, as it helps them navigate the transition towards future-proof hardware abstract processing."
From the perspective of Audinate, its co-founder and CEO, Aidan Williams, comments: "The industry is rapidly transitioning to a software-based IP media infrastructure, and Lawo is at the forefront of that transformation. We are delighted to partner with Lawo to bring Dante into that vision. The integration of Dante into Home Apps will provide Lawo customers with seamless access to Dante control, management and multimedia signals, enabling entirely new and innovative workflows."
