Iberseries platino industria Iberscreenings 2022

The Iberscreenings programming Iberseries & Platino Industria 2024 (October 1-4, Madrid), which includes viewings of new content from recent or upcoming Ibero-American fiction series and feature films, confirms a large selection of premieres supported by the most representative names of the audiovisual panorama.

Within the Iberscreenings: Chapter ONE area, on Tuesday, October 1, the first chapter of ClothesBrazilian medical thriller Spiral International y Boutique Films, produced for Prime Video. The series, scheduled for release at the end of November on the Amazon platform for Latin America, is directed by Diego Martins and starring Cláudia Abreu and Humberto Morais.

Iberseries Platino Industria 4th edition posterOn Wednesday, October 2, the public presentation of episode one of between walls, mexican series Star Original Productions (The Walt Disney Company Latin America) y BTF Media. This romantic comedy, directed by Noé Santillán – López, will premiere on Disney+ in Mexico at the beginning of 2025, with Aislinn Derbez, Christian Vázquez, Mariana Burelli and Armando Hernández, among its cast. On October 2, the Azcona Room will also host the European premiere of the second season of Intolerant / The Others, by Globoplay (Brazil). Alex Medeiros, Head of dramaturgy & documentaries of the Globoplay Originals de Globo (Brazil) will present its initial episode, under the moderation of Leonardo Edde, founder of Urca Filmes and VP of Firjan (Brazil).

On Thursday, October 3, the Cineteca Borau Room will host the screening of the first chapter of Favorite (TV ON Productions, Empatic Comunicación and Volf Entertainment), with the participation of Paloma Mora, CEO and producer of THE TV IS ON Productions. Favorite mixes crime, intrigue and corruption, in a production from Spain and Portugal directed by Rafa Montesinos and Adán Aliaga, which will premiere in 2025 on RTP, IB3 and HBO. Finally, Coral Cine will carry out the screening of the first episode of the Uruguayan Is it love?, on Friday, October 4 in the Borau Room. The fiction, which moves between drama and comedy, had its premiere on the TV Ciudad de Uruguay channel and is now presented to the international market.

Iberscreenings: Coming soon, with RTVE, Prime Video and HBO

RTVE adds to the programming of Soon with a preview of its upcoming premium series Internal Affairs y The lawyers, which will be held on Thursday, October 3 in the Azcona Room. Internal affairs (RTVE, Mediacrest) is a thriller drama, set in a neighborhood police station in Madrid in the late 1970s, led by one of the first female police officers in Spain, who infiltrates a plot to uncover a corruption network linked to heroin trafficking in Madrid. On the other hand, The lawyers (RTVE, Mod Productions) is a drama based on real events that tells the story of the labor lawyers who survived the massacre of an office in Atocha in 1977 during the Spanish transition.

Prime Video will also be in Soon on Thursday, October 3 in the Azcona Room, with the session Every minute counts. The director and showrunner of the series, Jorge Michel Grau (Mexico) and Alonso Aguilar, Head of Mexico Originals de Amazon Studios (Mexico), they will show a preview of the series Every minute counts (Amazon Studios, Traziende Films) and will reveal how virtual production was used for the first time in Latin America to recreate, with unprecedented precision, the scenarios of one of the greatest tests that Mexico has faced: the 1985 earthquake.

Iberseries & Platino Industria will also host the presentation of the new original Mexican series of HBO, Like water for chocolate, with a script by Curro Royo, María Jaén and Jimena Gallardo. Unpublished images of this production will be projected and a panel with its creators will follow.

Iberscreenings: Second Window, with Mediaset and Secuoya

Mediterranean Mediaset carry The Marquis (Mediaset Spain y Unicorn Content), to the program Second Window, with the presence of already released or upcoming content aimed at buyers with the aim of reaching new windows and territories of international distribution and marketing.

On Tuesday, October 1, the presentation of this series that premiered on Telecinco in May about the Los Galindos crime will take place in the Sala Borau, a case that expired in 1995 and that almost 50 years later remains unsolved. With the participation of Rocío Cachero, International Sales Director of Mediterranean Mediaset (Spain) and Silvia Cotino, Deputy Director of Sales and Business Development at Mediterranean Mediaset (Spain).

Secuoya Studios will go to Second Window con Los 39 (Secuoya Studios) on Wednesday, October 2 at the Sala Borau. This series that integrates thriller, mystery, survival and epic drama about the 39 sailors that Christopher Columbus left on the island of Hispaniola and the civilization they found upon arrival, is directed by Max Lemcke and Jorge Saavedra. The series goes beyond the official version of the story, delving into the lives and experiences of its protagonists, their relationships with the Taíno tribes that inhabited the island and the struggles for power, love and survival that they developed in this historical context.

Iberscreenings: Showcases, con Film Factory, Filmax y Latido Films

Iberseries & Platino Industria inaugurates new section of Iberscreenings in this edition: Showcases, with an exclusive selection of teasers of feature films and series that include upcoming content, with recent tours of international festivals or catalogues. These sessions, which will be held in the Cineteca's Borau Room, will be accompanied by presentations by the executives or sales agents of each of the companies.

On Tuesday, October 1, Film Factory, an independent sales agency founded in 2011 with high international potential, will present some of the most important titles they have produced in 2024. Filmax, the leading independent studio in Spain will present a selection of its best series and films, including romantic comedies, dramedias, genre films, dramas, sports documentaries, animation and series with remake potential. It will be Thursday, October 3.

Finally, Heartbeat Films, which has been selling some of the most outstanding films of Spanish and Latin American cinema around the world for more than 20 years, will also attend on Thursday, October 3, to show the new titles with which it has participated with great success in the nearby Toronto and San Sebastián festivals.

Iberscreenings: Premier Cine, Argentine prominence

The WIP screening of the Argentine feature film message in a bottle, of Leyenda Films, Kuarzo International Films y Corinthian, will be held on Tuesday, October 1 at the Sala Azcona (Cineteca), in a screening open to the public. This project was born in the 2022 edition of Iberseries & Platino Industria.

This comedy, directed by Gabriel Nesci, stars Luisana Lopilato, Benjamín Vicuña, Benjamín Amadeo, Luciano Cáceres, Rafael Spregelburd, Luis Machín, Eduardo Blanco, Gabriel Corrado, Inés Estévez, Marina Bellati and Valeria Lois. The film follows a sommelier who discovers a method of sending messages to the past in order to change some bad decisions she made years ago, but the messages only complicate her present and modify the lives of everyone around her.
