'La Promesa', the first Spanish daily series to win an Emmy

The La 1 afternoon series 'La Promesa', produced by RTVE next to StudioCanal in collaboration with Bamboo, has made history by winning the 2024 International Emmy Award in the best soap opera section. It is the first time in its 52-year history that a Spanish daily series has achieved this prestigious international award.

Created by Josep Cister Rubio, the series sand has prevailed over 56 nominees from 21 countries in 14 categories, including another series from La 1 in this same category, The Modern. At the award ceremony organized by the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, Josep Cister Rubio and producer Ramón Campos, producer, collected the award. In this ceremony, Spain has achieved another Emmy for the TV3 documentary program Point of no return.

The director of Film and Fiction at RTVE, Joseph Pastor, has shown his joy for this award for La 1's daily fiction. "When we started this series, the journey it was going to have was unthinkable. We knew it could work and engage the audience, but we did not expect the milestones it has achieved," he highlighted. "This award is the result of the efforts of many people who have given their all every day to make 'La Promesa' the success it is today, especially the RTVE Fiction team, Ramón Campos and Josep Cister. Without them, 'La Promesa' would never have been a reality," he remarked.

A successful series

Since its premiere, it has collected the FesTVal 2023 Award and has been a finalist for the Rose D'Or 2023. The series closed last October with 12.5%, its best share of the year and one of the greatest historical advantages over its main rivals. It is the leader of its time slot and the second most watched delayed series, with 274,000 viewers.
