Positive balance of the rebirth of Ciudad de la Luz: 14 productions and an impact of 60 million euros
The Alicante studies City of Light concludes 2024 with an economic impact of more than 60 million euros contributed by a total of 14 national and international productions.
Carlos Mazón, president of the Generalitat Valenciana, emphasizes that data such as the more than 500 agents from the audiovisual sector who have visited the studios, 30,000 overnight stays in establishments in Alicante or the hiring of more than 400 companies demonstrate not only the “positive impact” of the audiovisual industry in the local economy and employment, but “its consolidation as an international reference in the film industry." In 2025, the studios will redouble their bet with the "intensification" of "their international promotion with new initiatives that will strengthen their role in the audiovisual industry,” Mazón highlighted.
Feature films as Under Paris (Xavier Gens), Venom: the last dance (Kelly Marcel), The Tigers (Alberto Rodríguez), The Captive (Alejandro Amenábar) or bad influence (Chloé Wallace) have opted for the Alicante infrastructure, as well as series as relevant as The Law of the Sea, Nero, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, Favatriz o Sea Out. With regards to the advertising spots, the works of Mas Orange or Cupra Terramar stand out, directed in the latter case by J.J. Bayonne.
In the medium term, Ciudad de la Luz is committed to continuing to promote its growth by creating a audiovisual technological hub that will incorporate top-level companies into its facilities. Work is also underway on the launch of a new Film Commission of the Valencian Community, and in strengthening collaboration with universities, town councils, vocational training, Labora or ESCAC to continue providing qualified human teams to the infrastructure.
