RTVE confirms its new channel 2Cat, a 100% project in Catalan

The Board of Directors of RTVE approves the launch of the 2Cat project, a new channel in Catalan that will expand the audiovisual offer in Catalonia and give space to “new views, voices and content.”

2Cat, a generalist channel with a vocation for proximity, was born with the objective of showing a Catalonia “diverse, modern and proud of its roots." With a launch scheduled for this autumn, RTVE seeks to “certify its commitment” to the linguistic diversity of Spain, actively contributing to the process in the dissemination of content in Catalan. The journalist Oriol Nolis will be the director of this new channel entirely in Catalan from RTVE, while Laura Folguera will be the content director of this initiative whose production will be centralized in San Cugat.

In 2010-2011 he was a presenter for Canal 24 Horas and in 2013-2014 and 2018-2019 for Telediario. He has also presented The Debate of La 1, in its national edition and in that of Catalonia. He has also developed his work as a presenter in programs such as Blue Zulu; specials like Take out your Pride in the 2nd Feliz 2025, on La 1. Until April 2024, he has presented the program Documaster in 2, and has also directed and presented the podcast Code 6 for RNE Audio and Ràdio 4.

For its part, fern, director of The 2 Since December 2023, she has a degree in Journalism from the Autonomous University of Barcelona and a Diploma in Japanese Language and Culture from the Kyoto Gaikokugo Daigaku in Kyoto. He has developed his professional career for more than 20 years at the RTVE Production Center in Sant Cugat. She began her career at RTVE in 1999 as an editor for The Green Beetle and since then he worked in the area of programs and news in Catalonia. In 2016 he directed the magazine Tips, in 2017 she was the coordinator of La 2 in Catalonia and in 2021 she took charge of the production direction of TVE programs in Catalonia, a position she held until her appointment as director of La 2.
