Hybrid Television - TV - Remote - Traditional

According to the latest audience study of Windward, corresponding to the month of May, traditional television continues its decline in minutes of consumption, decreasing eight minutes compared to the figure for 2024. On the contrary, alternative uses of television increase by four minutes, such as IPTV consumption or environments gaming.

In May 2025, the daily consumption time per viewer, based on those who turn on/watch television every day, is 278 minutes (-4' than in the same month last year). Each person, out of the population universe of 47.1 million, has dedicated an average of 162 minutes (2 hours and 42 minutes) a day to watch traditional television this month, which represents -8' (-5%) compared to the month of May-24. The sociodemographic groups that consume television the most time (person/day) are women (175') and those over 64 years of age (306') and, by region, Asturias (200'), Castilla León (177') and Andalucia (174').

However, the average of hybrid consumption is from 51 minutes per person per day, +4' (9%) than in May-24. The exclusive audience for this modality, that is, the number of people who use the television daily for an activity other than watching traditional linear television, is 3,150,000. The age groups that dedicate the most time to “Other audiovisual consumption” are individuals between 25 and 44 years old (62'). All these data show that the total time of use of the television (Traditional + other consumption) is 213′ per person per day and of 328' per viewer a day.

The ranking of free-to-air channels continues to be led by Antenna 3, which closes the month as the most viewed chain with 13.3%. La1 (10.4%) maintains second position, with its best May since 2018, and Telecinco (9.8%) is in third place. The autonomous (8.6%) occupy fourth place, followed by LaSexta (6,5%), Four (5,9%) y La2 (2.9%). Despite the leadership of Antena 3, RTVE manages to place its programming in the Top 3 of the most viewed broadcasts of the month thanks to the two blocks of Eurovision (Gala and voting) and at the end of the Champions League that faced PSG and Inter Milan.
