Netflix produces 'The Child', Mariano Barroso's new film
Mariano Barroso concludes the filming of 'El Niño', a feature film supported by Netflix which adapts the homonymous novel by Fernando Aramburu.
Barroso (Ecstasy, all women, The invisible line) writes and directs a feature film starring the Goya winners Belen Cuesta (The infinite trench, The Money Heist) y Karra Elejalde (8 Basque surnames, While the war lasts). The film, which has concluded filming in Madrid after passing through several locations in the The Basque Country, will transform the novel into images Fernando Aramburu, published in 2024 by Tusquets Editores.
Inspired by real events, The boy tells the story of Mariaje (Belén Cuesta) and Nicasio (Karra Elejalde), mother and grandfather of one of the children who died in the gas explosion in a town in Vizcaya in October 1980, a tragedy that “shocked that town and all of Spain, and changed their lives forever.” As it says synopsis, "Our protagonists rebel in the face of tragedy. In a journey of search and improvement, full of unexpected emotions, Mariaje and Nicasio search and find their peculiar way of overcoming loss."
