Netflix will tell the story of Poli Díaz (El potro de Vallecas) in a new original film

Daniel Calparsoro ('Hasta el cielo', 'Assault on the Central Bank') directs the latest original project of Netflix in Spain, a still untitled feature film produced by That Media which will reflect the life of Polí Díaz, a boxer better known as “El colt de Vallecas”.

Inspired by real events, the film follows the life of Policarpo “Poli” Díaz (Miguel Herran), a young man from Vallecas who, despite a childhood marked by poverty and family violence, became a boxing legend in Spain in the 80s, fighting for the world lightweight title. El éxito y la fama lo arrastraron a un mundo de excesos, donde las drogas y las malas decisiones amenazaron con destruir todo lo que había conseguido. “A story of rise and fall, where Poli's biggest fight will be against himself,” reads the synopsis of the feature film.

Produced by Alea Media, the film is directed by Daniel Calparsoro, who also serves as executive producer alongside Atitor Gabilondo(Salvador, Patria) and written by Carlos Franco with photography direction Tommie Ferreras. Filming has already begun and will take place in various locations in Madrid and Segovia.

"This is a fast story that talks about the struggle of a young man who comes from nothing, a boxer who reaches the top of the sport and fame, but lacks the cultural and emotional tools to manage his success.
