The City Council of Vitoria-Gasteiz and EITB have signed an agreement that will allow the Basque Public Radio Television facilities to be modernized, adapting the spaces and infrastructure to the new needs of globalization and digitalization.

Más de 2,400 square meters, divided into two locations and in the heart of the city, will allow EITB to be closer to the information needs of the people of Alava.

The EITB group will invest in the purchase of the new headquarters in the capital of Alava near 2.7 million euros, which will allow the current facilities of Radio Vitoria and the rest of the EITB infrastructure to be significantly improved. The new headquarters will be located next to the Iradier Arena, specifically in the Plaza del Renacimiento.

This commitment by EITB to improve its facilities and location in Vitoria-Gasteiz is part of the group's strategy of providing itself with new tools that allow it to position itself as the leading audiovisual group in the Basque Country in the new framework of digitalization and globalization.

The new headquarters will also have a collaborative workspace with the audiovisual sector to achieve the objectives of strengthening Basque audiovisual production: production companies, technical services, various professionals, etc. It will also allow the EITB facilities to be adapted to reduce the carbon footprint and contribute to energy sustainability, as well as turning the EITB into an agent that can serve as a catalyst and strengthener of the Iradier Arena as a cultural and leisure space.

Given the urban planning conditions of the spaces acquired by EITB for its new headquarters and their possible uses, in the coming months, the Vitoria-Gasteiz City Council will process a modification of the Special Interior Reform Plan (PERI), with the aim that by the end 2025 the new EITB headquarters will come into operation.
