The WIT highlights the international potential of 'The Maid's Daughters' (Atresmedia)
'The Maid's Daughters', adaptation of Buendía Estudios Canarias y Atresmedia of the successful novel by Sonsoles Ónega, winner of the 2023 Planeta Prize, has been recognized by the consulting firm The WIT as one of the most outstanding productions internationally within the framework of MIPCOM Cannes 2025.
The inclusion of The maid's daughters in the select list of The WIT represents new international support for Atresmedia's fiction. The announcement was made this Wednesday during the “The Wit Fresh TV Fiction Conference”, held within the framework of MIPCOM 2025 in Cannes, one of the most relevant meetings in the industry. The series will premiere exclusively on November 30 on atresplayer and, later, it will reach prime time Antenna 3.
Over the years, The WIT has recognized on multiple occasions the quality and creative talent of the productions of Atresmedia. In its latest edition, the consultancy highlighted Dreams of freedom among the most outstanding fictions on the global scene. Later, at MIPCOM 2024, he also selected Sanctuary y Mariliendre.
Composed of 8 episodes of 50 minutes, The maid's daughters is a production by Buendía Estudios Canarias with the participation of Atresmedia. The direction is carried out by Menna Fité and Alejo Flah, under the executive production of Sonia Martinez and with Montse Garcia as director of Fiction at Atresmedia. The script is signed by Irene Rodríguez, Alba Lucío and Tatiana Rodríguez, and executive co-production falls to Lucía Alonso-Allende.
Starring by Verónica Sánchez, Carlota Baró and Alain Hernández, this drama set between Galicia and Cuba at the beginning of the 20th century offers a portrait of the time through the Valdés family saga. The series has a story marked by forbidden loves, betrayals, class struggles and secrets, in a context in which women begin to challenge the norms that limit their destiny.
