RTVE lays the first stone of its new Territorial Center of Castilla y León

The Territorial Center of Castilla y León RTVE begins the stage with the construction of its new headquarters, a long-awaited project that will allow the facilities of Spanish Television (TVE) and Spanish National Radio (RNE) to be unified in the same space in the Communication City of Valladolid.

He RTVE Board of Directors unanimously approved the project award and the works for an amount greater than four million euros. During this last year and part of the previous year, the execution project has been completed, and now the works have officially begun, which will extend between 15 and 16 months.

The headquarters of TVE in Valladolid It has been located since 1982 in the old Juan de Austria School, where it occupies around 2,300 square meters. For its part, RNE carries out its activity in a premises owned by more than 800 metros squares on the Paseo del Hospital Militar. Both headquarters, separate and with facilities that show the passage of time, will be replaced by a new modern, sustainable and fully adapted property to the current needs of the Corporation.

The new Territorial Center will be located on an urban plot of around 4,000 square meters in the Communication City (Sector 25-1, Boston Street), just two kilometers from the Plaza Mayor of Valladolid. The new center will have a 124 square meter television set, three control-locutory units for RNE (one of them equipped to capture television images), two video editing booths, two of voiceover, a wide wording, and various administrative and technical areas. The total area of ​​the building will be 2,785 square meters. All of this will allow for more efficient and coordinated management of RTVE resources and content in the community.

In line with the Corporation's environmental commitment, the new building will incorporate sustainability and energy efficiency criteria, following the standards of the GREEN Certification of the Council for Sustainable Building of Spain. The objective is to achieve the highest possible rating: five green leaves.

The presentation ceremony of this project, led by Cristina Bravo, director of RTVE Territorial, has had the presence of the advisor of RTVE Miquel Calçada, president of the Territorial Centers commission. They have intervened Roberto Ferrero, construction manager at SANDO; Iván Fernández del Río, director of the Castilla y León Center; Pedro Recas, director of Infrastructure, Services and Energy Efficiency of RTVE, and Nicanor Sen, Government delegate in Castilla y León. Iván Fernández del Río, director of the Center, has pointed out that "it is a long-desired project and the largest investment that RTVE has made in this land for more than 40 years. It aims to overcome the obsolescence of current facilities, optimize resources and offer a better public service to all citizens of Castilla y León.
