Radio Barcelona (Cadena SER) takes a technological leap with Aspa

With the aim of guaranteeing top quality sound, reliable operations and an infrastructure capable of adapting to increasingly dynamic workflows, Radio Barcelona (SER Chain) advances in its technical transformation process with the completion of a new phase of the renovation project led by Blade.

This project has allowed modernize central control and the three radioformula studies (40 Classic, 40 Urban and Dial) that add to the spaces already updated in previous stages. In this phase, the new digital consoles of DHD, which replace the historic RM3200D mixers after years of service. The chain has opted for series SX2 y RX2, modular, scalable equipment designed for radio and television environments with high technical demands. In total they have been installed seven 16-fader SX2 consoles, three 10-fader SX2, four 24-fader RX2 and one RX2 de 18 faders, all of them managed by Quince Core XC3 units that act as the engine of the system.

The heart of the new infrastructure is the DHD matrix with Core XD3 IP, which replaces Stagetec's previous Nexus Star system and takes signal routing and management capabilities to the next level with a Matrix up to 10240 x 12288 signals and ability to operate with up to 96 stereo faders. Its administration is carried out through MatrixControl, a tool that centralizes configuration and facilitates infrastructure control

The Core XD3 IP matrix incorporates APC connectivity with studies, logical functions, full integration with Dante (Audinate) for audio over IP, MADI compatibility for studios that already had this standard and a wide set of inputs and outputs with 22 AES EBU I/O and 48 analog I/O, which ensures interoperability with the entire technical ecosystem of the station.
