Shine Iberia launches 'DecoMasters', its new decoration and interior design reality show for RTVE
RTVE is preparing for the premiere of 'DecoMasters', a reality show produced by Shine Iberia (Banijay Iberia) in which ten couples of celebrities will come together to “revolutionize and democratize” the world of interior design and decoration.
In the format, celebrities they will face spectacular interior design challenges, in which they will transform all types of real spaces with real clients. The contestants must become decorators, capable of making the dreams of different clients come true, adapting to their tastes and needs and demonstrating creativity, talent, sensitivity and style. Likewise, they will have to design according to the budgets of each client for each space and take advantage of their resources. Responsibility will be key and we will focus on recycling and the second life of objects.
The actress and presenter Patricia Montero will be the master of ceremonies, while the couples' projects will be supervised by two judges: the multi-award-winning interior designer Lorenzo Castillo and the editor of Hearst's decorating magazines Marta Riopérez. Likewise, they will have big names from the world of decoration in each test, such as the interior designers Marta de la Rica, Tomás Alía, Pepe Leal, Patricia Bustos, German Álvarez, Alejandra Pombo, Mercedes Valdenebro, Mercedes Peralta, Erico Navazo and Manuel Espejo; the architect and interior designer of Italian origin Teresa Sapey; the architect and interior designer Nacho García Vinuesa; the building engineer and interior designer Sigfrido Serra; the artist and designer Jaime Hayón; the landscaper Fernando Martos; the muralist Johina García-Concheso, and the influencer expert on issues of order and cleanliness Begoña Pérez, La Ordenatriz.
The marriage formed by Isa Pantoja and Asraf Beno; Mar Flores and her son Carlo Costanzia; the couples of friends formed by Antonia Dell'Atte and María Zurita, Eduardo Casanova and Canco Rodríguez, Eduardo Navarrete y la Terre, Raquel Meroño and Belén López, and King Bru and Andrea; siblings Samantha and Colate Vallejo-Nágera; Lucía Dominguín and her daughter Palito Dominguín, and the twins Jesús and Daniel Oviedo, known as Gemeliers, are the ten celebrity couples shipped the format. All of them will aspire to a prize of 50.000 euros which will be donated to an NGO.
The development of DecoMasters
Each program will consist of two parts: the first will be a group test in which the contestants will work divided into two groups and make a jointly chosen design a reality. To do this, first, each couple will create their proposal to address the challenge that a client proposes to them. Afterwards, each of the two teams will have 10 minutes to decide which is the best option. The authors of the winning approach will assume leadership as project managers and organize the tasks of their colleagues.
The main objective will be to meet the needs and demands of the owners with a functional proposal that reflects the personality of its owners, adjusting to a budget. After two days of intense effort, the jury will evaluate the transformation of the space and the losing team will face the elimination test, in which each couple will develop their own project for two days to meet the demands of new clients. At the end of each program, the least brilliant tandem will say goodbye to the competition.
At all times, couples will have a tent equipped with the necessary material where they can go as many times as they want and take what they need. Additionally, in the elimination, the couple who wants some extra material, which is not available in the tent, will go out to buy it on the call. 'Decoexpress Race', while the other colleagues continue working. Throughout the entire work process, you will always have the help of a team of professionals, which will only intervene in tasks that involve some risk.
Participants will face very varied challenges, both in homes and businesses. They will transform everything from the living room of a house to rooms as private and small as bathrooms. They will make children's bedrooms and enter the universe open concept, where the living room, dining room and kitchen merge into the same environment. They will work on terraces intended for enjoying barbecues or in living rooms of a country house. They will even have to improve apartments on the coast, affected by humidity and excess sun.
They will also improve businesses that need to be modernized, such as a hairdresser and a barbershop, two bars with their own personality and two beach bars on the Costa del Sol. They will create functional and cozy bedrooms in a student residence and they will face a loft of 30 m² where limitations must become its greatest attraction.
A unique talent in Spain
Produced by RTVE in collaboration with Shine Iberia (Banijay Iberia), the program was presented with a press conference led by María Eizaguirre, director of Communication and Participation: "We are unstoppable and we are ready to revolutionize the world of decoration and interior design. This decoration thing is much closer than it seems. It is often said 'for tastes, the colors'. And this chain is the one that gives you the entire color palette. So that you can choose what you want."
“We had the idea of looking for a decoration format,” he added. Well Maria Bordas, director of Content Production at RTVE: "We wanted something that was real and this format united entertainment with a real topic. They have to work in real spaces and with real clients. It is a talent that we had not done and that we hope will arouse interest. It shows that with a small budget our habitats can be improved; The couples are going to make us laugh and the result is very funny.”
On the other hand, Macarena Rey, CEO of Shine Iberia, has listed the main values of Decomasters: "It is a program that shows that everyone can decorate their house with limited resources. The mechanics are very simple and we have ten spectacular celebrity couples. There will be two complicated and real challenges for each program. And there is a lot of truth, it is impossible to pretend."
