Asharq News is disaster-proofed with a cloud solution from Grass Valley
Saudi Arabia's leading news network, Asharq News, expands its cloud-based disaster recovery capabilities with the implementation of AMPP-based Playout Grass Valley.
This move marks an important step in Asharq's strategy to strengthen operational resilience through scalable, software-defined issuance solutions. Launched in 2020, Asharq News provides 24/7 news and business coverage for decision-makers, entrepreneurs and young professionals across the MENA region. Through its exclusive collaboration with Bloomberg Media, Asharq Business with Bloomberg, a multi-platform business news service, offers audiences access to Bloomberg's global financial information network of more than 2,700 journalists and analysts.
As part of its continued investment in future-ready infrastructure, the news network has transitioned from a traditional monolithic broadcast system to a cloud-native disaster recovery (DR), powered entirely by the renowned agile media processing platform AMPP de Grass Valley. Asharq initially launched DR channels for its History and Discovery services in June 2025 and followed up with a third for its flagship News service in October 2025.

The solution is provided by Grass Valley as a fully hosted offering that combines AMPP-powered Playout X and Framelight He OPEX based model eliminates the need for capital-intensive hardware investments, while delivering robust access, agility and peace of mind.
