Cloud solutions are the order of the day, and playout environments could not be left behind. Grass Valley Now features GV Stratus Playout, a breakthrough that combines the efficiency and flexibility of cloud computing with the performance and reliability of a solid-state playout server, all on a single card. This cloud software (SaaS) will allow, for example, broadcasters to regionalize channel content and start playout in a matter of minutes.
In addition, it simplifies playout control, allowing new business models with higher revenues and reduced operating costs.
GV Stratus Playout is powered by the Grass Valley Densité SSP-3801 solid-state playout card, which allows broadcasters to take advantage of the enormous flexibility of the cloud playout control system with the security of having multimedia content on site. This card is at the end of the network to offer a playout enriched with animated logos or frame-accurate pre-rendered graphics.
Using a solid-state, board-independent approach, there are no moving parts to wear out. This not only makes it very attractive in terms of long-term performance, but also highly resistant to network interruptions. The playlists stored on the card would in this case allow the broadcast to continue uninterrupted, updating automatically once network connectivity is restored.
On the other hand, this system allows regionalization and even hyper-localization not only for advertisements but also for special promotions.
Finally, it should be noted that GV Stratus Playout uses the Microsoft Azure cloud platform hosted in Microsoft data centers, thus guaranteeing performance, resistance and scalability.
All GV Stratus Playout metadata is stored within the local Microsoft data center and automatically synchronized with a remote database to ensure redundancy or enable geolocation.
