The global organization Virtual Effects Society (VES) launches regional section in Spain
With the birth of a section in Spain and Japan, the Visual Effects Society (VES) It expands its reach to a total of 18 regions, which confirms the global influence of this association focused on the VFX sector that already has more than 5,600 members around the world.
The arrival of the Visual Effects Society a Japan and Spain comes to recognize the “distinctive and vibrant” communities of professionals dedicated to the VFX industry in both countries, says Nancy Ward, executive director of the association. The creation of both communities is aligned with the VES strategy of establishing strong regional communities: "Our chapters around the world are the heart of the Visual Effects Society. With a diverse international membership, our chapter leaders play a critical role in addressing the specific needs of their regions, strengthening connections and sharing resources in their local communities, and being global ambassadors for the art of visual effects."
The community of visual effects from Spain, rapidly growing and increasingly international, includes artists working in film, series, animation, advertising, virtual production and emerging workflows powered by artificial intelligence. The objective of CES for the country is “unify this pool of local talent", creating a visible and connected community that supports professional standards, knowledge sharing and mentorship, which positions Spain as a strong and reliable partner in the field of visual effects within the global production ecosystem. "Another priority of the Spanish section of VES is to help bridge the gap between international productions that come to Spain and the group of local talents in the field of visual effects, fostering long-term growth of the industry along with the country's strong production incentives and studio network.
Astrid Busser Casas, founder and visual effects supervisor of the studio Ghost Light VFX, has played a central role in the birth of the Spanish section of the society: "There has been strong demand from Spanish VES members for a local section that reflects the maturity and scale of the industry here. With the increase in international productions coming to Spain driven by tax incentives, studio infrastructure and highly skilled teams, our community has grown significantly. Many of us have worked abroad and have experienced first-hand the value of local VES sections in creating “solid professional networks. The creation of a section in Spain seemed to us a natural step to support the growth of our region and give Spain a stronger voice within the global VES network.”
On the other hand, the organizers of the new section japanese of VES aim to harness the momentum of the country's visual effects industry. One of its first initiatives is to ask the Japanese Academy Awards that add a category of visual effects. The section is also planning ways to highlight the work of its members internationally through connections with other VES sections.
The Japanese and Spanish sections of the VES will celebrate soon local meetings and elections.
