NATO updates its television studio with Grass Valley UHD cameras ready for the jump to IP

VP Media Solutions has led the renovation project of the main television studio of the I'LL TAKE in Brussels, a project that integrates the LDX 135 cameras of Grass Valley and look at the latest industry trends such as UHD or SMPTE 2110 environments.

The implementation was completed in a very tight deadline: replacement of five existing camera chains and the installation of new systems in a period of four days. Additionally, the system requirements included that the cameras have 4K capabilities, SMPTE fiber connectivity and compatibility with SDI workflows of existing base bands.

In collaboration with Bart Vandendorpe, NATO broadcast director, the cameras were selected LDX 135 of Grass Valley, ya that met the technical requirements and offered a clear improvement in image quality, including sharpness, contrast and color reproduction. The configuration also includes Creative Grading, graphical camera shading solution from the American manufacturer.

The system currently works with an architecture SDI baseband, with a clear path to business-based workflows IP through licensing NativeIP optional, supporting NATO's future infrastructure plans.
