last friday RAC1 (Ràdio Associació de Catalunya 1) said goodbye to the historic 16th floor of Avinguda Diagonal 477 in Barcelona, where the Catalan station was born 25 years ago, to move to new studios thirteen floors below in the same building.

RAC1 (Photo: RAC1)After two and a half years of projects and work, the editorial and studios of RAC1 and its sister station RAC105 move to new facilities designed to continue generating information, sports and entertainment content in Catalan. The new facilities are prepared for 21st century radio with a strong presence of audiovisual elements and streaming both audio and image in the studio.

The general director of RAC1 and RAC105, Eulàlia Carbonell, emphasizes that "we gain in technical solidity, in robustness. We will have the tools that will help our teams work more comfortably and without the shortcomings we had in terms of creativity.

RAC1, more audiovisual

"We have tried to maintain our idiosyncrasy, but equipping ourselves in a way that allows us to continue growing. We have had to go down to the third floor for technical reasons, but we have tried to maintain that spirit that characterizes us so much," explained Carbonell, in an interview with the program I don't know.

RAC1 (Photo: RAC1)Eulàlia Carbonell has revealed that, at first, staying on the 15th floor was a red line, but the technical demands of today's radio, an increasingly audiovisual medium, made them see that the best thing for the project was to move to new facilities and a new space.

"In 25 years, we have gone from zero listeners to more than one million. It is very rapid growth, and the technical update that we have had to make has not been possible to plan as we would have liked," explains Carbonell. In addition, he acknowledges that although "the sound is the same, but you will notice that we will work more comfortably. We will be able to do more things and I hope you continue enjoying us, that you see our content on other platforms, not just on the radio."
