Nevion Moxela

Nevion adds to its Networked Live ecosystem, Moxela, a new software-based media processing platform that runs on COTS (commercial) servers or in the cloud, and designed to transform the way broadcasters, production companies and media organizations transport, process and monitor live video, audio and data.

Moxela, which is natively integrated with the VideoIPath media orchestration platform, will be featured at Sony's booth at NAB 2026 in Las Vegas. During the show, Sony and Nevion will demonstrate software-defined multimedia operations including, but not limited to, Moxela and the M2L-X software switcher, both in the cloud and on-premise, leveraging MXL.

The Moxela platform consists of multimedia functions that can be easily combined to create high-quality, low-latency multimedia applications for broadcast installations, contribution networks and remote and cloud production. Designed from the beginning to be open and compatible With existing and emerging industry standards, multimedia functions can be integrated with other products to provide the multimedia processing functionality they require.

Moxela is compatible not only with SMPTE ST 2110 y IS, but also with the recently specified Media Exchange Layer (MXL), which is supported by the Linux Foundation, EBU, and NABA, and is designed to standardize the real-time, in-memory exchange of uncompressed audio, video, and metadata between software applications.

Simplify management

Moxela's tight integration with VideoIPath offers a unified way to control, orchestrate, virtualize and monitor not only multimedia applications developed on the platform, but also other local and cloud equipment and systems (from Sony or third parties). This significantly simplifies the end-to-end management of live production workflows, delivering speed and efficiency and substantially reducing implementation risks.

Contributing a agility, scalability and flexibility Exceptional capabilities to multimedia workflows, MOXELA also provides independence from vendors and infrastructure platforms by leveraging modern software development principles and adhering to emerging industry guidelines such as Digital Media Factory (DMF) de la EBU.

Moxela has been developed with a cloud native architecture as core. It supports containerized deployment on a wide range of computing platforms, from on-premises COTS hardware to private and public cloud environments. This gives media organizations the freedom to design workflows that best suit their operational and business needs, while avoiding lock-in to a single vendor.

Jan Helgesen, Director of Product and Solutions at Nevion, explains that "Nevion has been delivering software-defined multimedia systems for more than a decade and has developed exceptional expertise during that time. The new MOXELA software platform is the logical evolution of our offering, and its launch strategically coincides with the development of common frameworks for the broadcast industry, which is very important for our customers. In the coming months, we will offer exceptional functionality for a wide variety of multimedia applications, so stay tuned."
