The Marta del Castillo case comes to Netflix with the filming of 'In the name of Marta'

Bamboo Productions ('The Asunta case') and The Clapperboard PC produce 'In the name of Marta', a miniseries Netflix which has had the approval of Marta del Castillo's family.

The serie adapts into fiction a case that “shocked Spanish society in 2009.” Starring Blanca Portillo, Vicente Romero, Verónica Sánchez, María León, Paco Tous and Hugo Welzel, In the name of Martha is a fictional miniseries six episodes created and written by Ramón Campos, Gema R. Neira, Salvador S. Molina, Curro Serrano and David Orea Arribas, and directed by Carlos Sedes, Laura Alvea and José Ortuño, which narrates the real facts of the case and the “devastating impact it generates on those who seek the truth, whatever the cost.”

The serie It reconstructs in a “thorough and respectful” way everything that has happened since the day of the disappearance: the first investigations, the changes in the version of Miguel Carcaño and his accomplices, the media trial, the incessant search for the body, but, above all, the family's public struggle to not allow the case to go unpunished. It also addresses how the media fueled social tension, and how citizens turned Marta's name into a symbol.

This is the synopsis of the series, whose filming has just begun in Seville: "On January 24, 2009, Marta del Castillo, a 17-year-old girl from Seville, disappears after leaving home to meet Miguel Carcaño. In a few hours, what seemed like a teenage escapade becomes a national tragedy. What follows is a nightmare for her family: contradictory versions, false confessions, a body that never appears and a justice that, despite the convictions, never manages to offer consolation."
