Movistar Plus+ opens a new chapter after the departure of its CEO Daniel Domenjó
Daniel Domenjó confirms through his social networks his decision to “abandon” the position of CEO of Movistar Plus+, a platform that opens a transition stage towards a new direction.
The news has been confirmed by himself Sunday through his LinkedIn account, in a message in which he stated that he was “happy and satisfied” to share this news. In the same text, he is “enormously grateful” to both Telefónica as Movistar Plus+ for a “stage full of intensity and magnificent results,” and anticipates a “transition stage” that, according to what he points out, will take the platform to “much higher levels in the future.”
Sunday came to Movistar Plus+ in March 2025 coming from Iberia Satisfaction, a production company that he founded. Previously, he held prominent positions in companies such as Mediacrest Entertainment o Klaxon Global Media, from where he promoted international partnerships, co-productions and co-developments with global players such as Talpa, Paramount or the British ITV, among others.
The version of Sunday differs from the information collected by media such as The Country o The Confidential. According to these headlines, he has been the president of Telefónica itself, Mark Murtra, who would have dismissed the executive in a extraordinary session of the company's board of directors.
These same media point out that Alfonso Gomez Palacio, until now responsible for the operations of Telefónica Hispanoamérica, would assume the direction of the television branch of the teleoperator. With the appointment, he points out The Economist, Telefónica expects a control of tougher costs and one more organic integration of content with the rest of the group operations.
