Christie - Royal Cinemas

The British operator PDJ Cinemas, owner of Royal Cinemas, installs a new projector in the main theater of the Royal Sutton Coldfield cinema Christie CP4415m-RGBH 4K that is expected to be amortized in just three years, with annual savings of 11,500 euros compared to its previous xenon solution thanks to lower electricity consumption and the elimination of recurring spending on lamps.

The initial forecast placed the return on investment between three and a half years and four years, but the increase in energy costs has reduced that estimate to approximately three years. James Jervis, director of PDJ Cinemas, estimates that the annual savings will be around 10,000 pounds, equivalent to about 11.500 euros: "I had a 4K xenon projector that was about ten years old and was consuming a lot of energy. In addition, every eight weeks we had to spend a significant amount on a new lamp. Between the energy savings and the elimination of lamp costs, we hope to save around £10,000 a year. And, at the same time, we are offering better image quality and a better experience for the audience."

He Christie CP4415m-RGBH offers 15,000 lumens, resolution 4K and an efficiency of 14.2 lumens per watt, approximately a 30% higher than other comparable models, according to Christie. His hybrid RGB technology with phosphor is designed for rooms that seek a high-level image, with good contrast and less speckle, but with a tighter operating cost.

For Royal Cinemas, the decision wasn't just based on savings. The main room has a screen 12 meters high gain, so image quality was still a priority. "Our business model is to deliver the best picture and sound possible. Now we have a new 4K laser projector with a fantastic picture and without a speckle high. The color and contrast are very good, and it offers a great 4K image from a very compact device,” says Jervis.

The projector, which currently offers a contrast ratio of 5000:1, will reach values of up to 10.000:1 after the incorporation of technology Christie VDR at the time when “it is available for this model”. Following tests carried out with the CP4415m-RGBH, PDJ Cinemas has already ordered a second modelo Christie CP4410m-RGBH: "He feedback What we received was so good that we have already placed another order. We will certainly continue to use Christie hybrid cinema projectors in the future.”
